Volunteers are the lifeblood that allows our conference to operate smoothly.  The duties are simple and straightforward, the main requirement is to be friendly.  This is true volunteerism - you must still register for the conference to attend the sessions, even as a greeter, introducer or photographer.  If you would like to volunteer, contact the Volunteer Coordinator, Pat McDonnell. (contact instructions pending)

Currently we need:

Door Prize Monitor (one chief and two assistants). Primary duties involve monitoring the door prizes and to insure they don't 'walk away' and awarding the prizes to the winners. This involves setting up the door prizes at one or two tables in the FxGS booth before 8am on Saturday, being at the door prize tables during registration, breaks between sessions, and lunch. Photographer (several needed).  Primary duties are to take candid photos of speakers speaking, vendors vending, and attendees attending both speakers and vendors.  You need to bring your own digital camera that works well indoors in florescent lighting and a steady hand.   (Instructions pending)

Session Greeters (one for each lecture and mini-lecture).  Primary duties are to check name tags at the door, count the number in the lecture, and check for forgotten purses, etc. after the lecture. And listen to the lecture. You may select the session or sessions you are already attending. For a PDF file with instructions, click here.

Session Introducers (one for each lecture and mini-lecture). Normally, members of the board and conference committee do the introductions but with so many new lectures, they need help.  Primary duties are to greet the speaker and see if there are any problems for the Chairperson's attention, make some announcements and introduce the speaker and check for forgotten purses, etc. after the lecture. And listen to the lecture. You may select the session or sessions you are already attending. For a PDF file with instructions, click here.

Vendors Assistants for Set-up and Tear-Down (six for set-up from 6 to 8 am four after the last lecture on Saturday).  Primary duties are to assist the Vendor Captain and vendors in checking in, setting up, and tearing down the vendors.  Of our vendors, only one or two will need assistance in moving loaded carts with boxes. For a PDF file with instructions, click here.

Vendor Captain monitors vendor set-up and tear-down, assists in problem solving and checks with vendors throughout the day to see if there are any issues needing resolution.  A good way to meet the vendors.  This year the Vendor Captain will assist committee's Vendor Chair with a view to assuming that job in the future.
